A sunny day and no wind at the start time of 10.00 am, so the Race Officer Selwyn Holland thankfully postponed the start for around 40 minutes.
The forecast light winds varied from 0 to about 7 km/h for the 13 races, with a different winner and different second placegetter in each of the first four races. We all drifted around with mixed success until just before the proposed lunch break when the breeze shifted to the SE at around 6 km/h so lunch was delayed for a couple of races. After the break, the breeze remained reasonably constant at this strength for four or five races, then died off to virtually nothing when we all agreed to call a halt just after 3.30 pm.
The winner Scott, who is still coming to grips with his swing rig, didn't get it all his own way until after lunch with a number of race wins, with Gary, Brian, Patrick and Ralph also winning races.
Many thanks to Selwyn and Al for volunteering their time and effort and it was greatly appreciated by all. Scorer Al remarked on the excellent and friendly manner in which the racing was carried out, and Selwyn carried out the Race Officer duties very efficiently which made for a relaxed and stress free day.
The few penalties were promptly done to the credit of those involved.
