Saturday 1st December saw the last GP event for Ten Raters for the 2018 season incorporating the Tyson Trophy and was hosted by the Northern Mariners at Kariong Gardens.

There were thirteen competitive yachts show up from 4 clubs from across the state.

The morning races were marred by continuous breeze changes making it frustrating for the race officers and competitors alike.

The first few races showed who were going to be the yachts to beat. Allen Roberts started to show some good form in the first couple of heats with Owen Jarvis and Wayne Keavy keeping him honest.

The breeze settled in the afternoon with a nice NE breeze sometimes verging on B rig. Racing was very competitive with seven different heat winners from the fourteen races.

With some good performances Phil Page and Mathew McAnna started to make some good progress towards a podium result. Unfortunately Phil had to leave early possibly costing him a good result.

In the end it was the Kogarah Bay boats that dominated the results with Owen in his new Trance in first position on 25 points, Allen Roberts sailing Owen’s Diamond on 44 points was second and Mathew McAnna on 47 points was third.

We would like to thank all of the competitors for there support of this event and I would like to say it was great to see the manner in which the competitors behaved in some trying conditions.
