The Sangas of Greg Torpy and Ben Taylor have dominated the Queensland Ten Rater State Championship at Regatta Waters Lake, the venue for the upcoming ARYA Nationals.
Conditions were relatively light for the start of the day with a light northerly breeze making conditions ideal for some close racing.
Race one saw a win claimed by Greg Torpy but it was Ben Taylor who clicked into gear with his new Stephen Sedgeman designed and built Sanga, which was launched just prior to the event, who went on to claim wins in races 2, 3 & 4 to show that he was going to be a contender for the title and a great battle between the Sanga duo ensued.
Garry Bromley (NSW) and Trevor Fisher with their Diamond's kept the front runners honest but could not match the performance of the Sanga in the lighter conditions.
The breeze increased through the day and saw the majority of the fleet step down to B rig but at the end of the day the title was decided on the last race with Greg Torpy coming out on top, Ben Taylor second and Garry Bromley third.
