The 2023 RC Australian Nationals held at beautiful Yarrawonga Yacht Club was the scene of another eventful regatta, with sailor's from QLD, NSW, SA and Vic making up the fleet.

16 Skippers enjoyed the mild 20 degree temperatures and on day one with little to no breeze and a bit of weed just to spice it up a bit.

Seven races completed for the day with Scott Fleming taking out the first two races before Adrian Heard stepped up to win race three.

Grant Gillespie was the first casualty in race 3 with boat trouble which saw an end to his day. Race 5 produced an upset of epic proportions with Peter Haymes taking the honours for his first win in a nationals event. Race 6 started with another casualty for the event with Mario Gulic’s drum drive sheets breaking. Although he had it ready for race eight Andrew Reid decided to call it a day for lack of wind.

Day one results Scott 1st on 7 points, Adrian Heard 2nd 15 points and Graham Brown 3rd 24 points.

A pleasant 24 degrees was in order for day 2

David Page started with a bullet in windy conditions and b rigs were in order for the first 4 races. Graham Brown also had an excellent race 9 but after that it was the Scott Fleming show with ones and twos for the rest of the day.

A big thank you to the Yarrawonga Yacht Club for letting us use their facilities. Special Thanks to Andrew Reid for donating his time as PRO.

Thank you to the scorers Jayne and Maureen (hope you enjoy the champagne) and it goes without saying the event was superbly organised again by Scott Fleming.
