The Canberra Model Yacht Club successfully hosted the ACT State 10 Rater Championship over the weekend of September 10th and 11th, 2023.
Sailed on Lake Burley Griffin, the event attracted fourteen competitors from NSW, VIC, SA, and the ACT. Saturday’s racing was lively in a steady 15-18kt NNE breeze with a good spread of winners.
Sunday’s racing was delayed two hours with calm, shifty conditions but everyone enjoyed the warm sunshine. An 8kt NW set in for the rest of the day to round out the event.
After 24 races the ACT championship was won by Scott Condie (NSW), second place went to Andrew Reid (VIC), and third place by Tony White (SA). Scott and Andrew were sailing Trance boats, while Tony skippered a Sanga.
