Pegasus Radio Sailing Club recently hosted the Mini40 RC Multihull Regatta at Pegasus, Christchurch, New Zealand over 29 Sep - 02 October.
While the fleet was small, the boats were well matched in an event which included fleet racing & match racing. West Australian Ian Holt dominated with his new prototype Bingo design which was designed by Ian Holt & David Creed (UK) and built by Creed.
Conditions were relatively light in the mornings before an increasing breeze saw the boats up on foils and some exciting speeds recorded. Racing was extremely tight sometimes suiting the lighter designs while at other times the heavier designs with Holt stating that "the trick was to make the most of the wind conditions that suited your boat and look for opportunities to score well in conditions that suited the others".
The mix of conditions suited Holt in achieving the win overall as well as the match racing. Holt finished with an overall score of 68 points from the 75 races sailed with Paul Goddard second on 103 points just ahead of Bruce Edgar on 104 points.
