A small but highly competitive fleet gathered for the WA 10R Metro Championship and a fantastic day of sailing (albeit a little chilly) at Maylands Yacht Club on the 16th September.

By start time the early sea breeze started to fill in and the fleet with their A rigs headed out and before long RO Captain Blackwire got the start sequence in motion.

Rosco Bennett drew first blood winning the first race of the day and after three races with two bullets in the bag it was looking as though Rosco might have the goods to go on with it.

Roger Paul's Diamond AUS86

As the breeze steadily increased and the fleet went to B rigs it was Roger Paul that showed consistency with a string of wins and a handful of seconds and the momentum had definitely shifted.

Glenn Dawson continued to remain the serial pest with his Sanga and with the fleet changing to C rigs he was making his move with his last seven races made up of first's and seconds.

With one race to sail and another drop kicking in the series was open for any of the three to win, but it was Roger who claimed victory in the final race and it was enough to claim the series on 23pts with Dawson finishing on 24pts and Bennett on 25pts.
