The new era for Queensland Ten Rater racing arrived on the 1st of November 2020 as 15 boats lined up for the start of the 2020 Queensland Ten Rater Championship at Emerald Lakes.
This is the largest fleet seen for many many years except the nationals at Coomera Waters , many congratulations to all the 10R guys for giving it a go.
Starting with light breezes for the first 3 races provided its challenges with very fluky winds then came the SE Breeze at 8 to 10 Knots giving Race Officer Bill Clancy near perfect wind speed for these formula 1s of the water. Everyone stayed on A rigs and it was very spectacular to see these in full flight.
Bill Clancy and his team ran the event with professionalism and every one of his team and all competitor should hold their
L to R: Trevor Fisher 3rd, Greg Torpy 1st, & Rex Scott 2nd.heads high for the manor in which the day was conducted. A special thank you to Julian for the awesome scoring job his first solo, well Done Julian. If it wasn’t for the awesome group of volunteers then events of this calibre would not happen.
The Results .... Greg Torpy won with an awesome display of sailing and race management with Rex and Trev fighting it out for the places... Rex coming in second with a great display with a boat built himself and Trev coming in third with his new boat. But the winners were Radio Sailing and the Ten Rater class with this display on how to put on a quality event at the Paradise Radio Yacht Club .
