It was the Swords of Warren Norrie & Brian Dill that lead the fleet at the A Class GP held at Woollongong on June 23rd.

\images\agbp2Seven sailors showed up on a cold winters morning to enter the event with little wind blowing on the lake. Racing was postponed till 10.30am to allow for a breeze to fill in, and the first heat was started. As luck would have it the first race took 30 mins and 30 secs for the first boat to finish, so the race was abandoned. Two more races were completed before calling for lunch to allow the wind to fill in.

After lunch the wind strengthened to 7 knots from the West and 14 races were completed until racing concluded at 4.00pm. The majority of races were won by Brian Dill and Warren Norrie in their Swords, while Selwyn Holland and Allan Thomson were also winners in their Gunboats.

All the racing was completed in a good spirit, with only a few incidents being resolved on the water. As a mark of respect to Sailors who have never stood on the winners Podium before, prizes were handed out to the bottom 3 place getters, while the winning trio of sailors got nothing. Maybe this kind of Sportsmanship might catch on!!!

Anyway a good day was had by all  ……… with thanks to the people who arranged for this event to go ahead at short notice.
